White squirrels rare, not unheard of in Somerville

In the middle of New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward, the part of the city worst hit by Hurricane Katrina three years ago, there was nothing but devastation, Kathryn Hencir, a Somerville resident, said. “In what used to be a school zone, the entire street is wiped out,” Hencir said. “The entire neighborhood is gone. It’s just gone.”

The former Miss Massachusetts from Somerville will be in Friday's Fourth of July Parade in Bourne.

Family Math Night would not be successful without the support of dedicated volunteers, such as Erica Voolich, who recruited students from Somerville High’s Math and Computer Clubs to participate.
